Occupational Health & Safety

Since our very foundation, IMEM has always considered workers’ safety and full compliance with occupational health and safety laws, especially the Occupational Risk Prevention Act, as major priorities. Due to our concern for OH&S issues, the company’s 2006 and 2007 Annual Plans included an Occupational Health & Safety Management System in line with OHSAS 18001: 1999, a specification that has superseded all other similar standards. Consequently, AENOR has granted SST-0008/2008 certification to our HQ and all our branch sites.

OHSAS 18001 has helped IMEM to identify, control and manage OH&S risks and integrate daily work into our occupational health and safety management systems.

OHSAS 18001 specification has enabled the organisation to focus on its main production and operational processes, to minimise or prevent its own occupational risks as well as those of third parties involved, and to improve management as a whole.

OHSAS 18001 was created via the concerted effort of a number of the world’s leading national standards bodies, certification agencies and specialist consulting organisations like SGS, BVQI, Lloyds Register, DNV, and AENOR, among others.

has been developed to be compatible with the ISO 9001/2000 (Quality) and ISO 14001/96 (Environment) management system standards, in order to facilitate the integration of quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management systems in organisations, if desired.
